Four-star offensive tackle prospect and Florida State legacy Aaron Thomas was one of a handful of prospects that left on Saturday (or early Sunday morning) from their official visit this past weekend. I caught up with Thomas late yesterday after his flight back to Arizona and asked him a few questions about his visit.

Q: What were you looking to see on your visit this weekend and did you find the answers you were looking for?
I wanted to see how I would fit into the team and how Coach Hand would fit me in the OL. I also wanted to see how the current players interact (with each other) and what they thought about the coaches. I got the answers I needed.

Q: How was it getting back to campus for the first time in a while?
I actually was out there for an unofficial visit back in October. The renovations they are finishing up will make it one of the best facilities in the country.

Q: What did you think of the coaches now that you’ve gotten to properly meet them?
I spent the most time with the OL coach and I like him a lot. Coach Norvell has so much energy. He gets everyone going so I understand why all the players really like playing for him. I met with Coach Malzahn and he’s the man. I think the offense will go crazy (this year).

Q: What’s next for you visit wise and when would you like to decide?
I have visits scheduled in Texas next. I’ll decided on a school by the end of this month.

Q: How was it getting to experience this visit with your family given the history here?
It was fun. My parents are big time Seminoles but they aren’t trying to convince me to go to FSU. They’d be happy if I did though.

Q: What’s ultimately going to be the deciding factor for you when you decide?
I’m going to fight for playing time no matter where I go because I think I can play anywhere. It will come down to the team culture and the relationships I have with the coaches.

Notes and Takeaways:

Thomas remains consistent in saying that his father's career at Florida State isn't playing a huge role in his recruitment, as early playing time is a major factor for Thomas. Obviously his father is former Seminole Eric Thomas but his mother is an FSU alumni too.

Florida State may be the program that is trying to catch up in his recruitment but if there is one thing going for FSU, it is the opportunity for early playing time. The rollover of talent along the offensive line is something that we've charted often and Thomas would have the opportunity to come in and compete right away.

Florida State sees him at tackle.

We've been hearing more and more about the state-of-the-art facilities as the project comes closer to being completed. Specifically we've heard a lot about the virtual reality room that Florida State is going to be using. We got a look at Aaron at left tackle in the room. All four of the OL visitors over the weekend: Thomas, Ionata, Smith, Cooper from left to right (OL assistant Cooper Williams was at center).
